How the Gyeongbokgung Photoshoot Works

Message the photographer after booking, rent your hanbok, meet at the station exit, and allow at least two hours for the whole thing.

  1. Message After Booking

The photographer asks you to get in touch right after booking for hanbok shop recommendations, and shares the photos by email or WhatsApp afterwards.

  2. Rent Your Hanbok

The rental is not included. Dressing takes time, so book the rental early enough to be ready; entry to the palace is then free.

  3. Meet at Exit 4

The shoot starts at Gyeongbokgung Station (Line 3) Exit 4, and the photographer walks with you to Gwanghwamun, the throne hall and other spots inside.

  4. Choose Your 12

You pick your favourites from the unedited files, and those 12 come back fully edited. The two Polaroids you take home the same day.

The Guide

Which Photographer, and Whether the Hanbok Is Included

The two leading photoshoots cost the same. One includes the rental, one does not.

The most reviewed hanbok photoshoot at Gyeongbokgung is Aurea Studio’s: an hour inside the palace with a photographer who poses you, 12 fully edited photos and two Polaroids to take home that day. It is sold as Professional Hanbok Photography at Gyeongbok Palace, from US$113 a person (checked October 2026), and rated 4.9 out of 5 from 343 reviews. The hanbok rental is not included.

What the hour gets you

The shoot starts at Exit 4 of Gyeongbokgung Station and works its way through the palace, with stops at Gwanghwamun, the throne hall and the spots the photographer knows. Afterwards you receive the unedited files in low resolution, choose your favourites, and 12 of them come back fully edited, colour and skin retouching included, plus two Polaroid prints on the day. The listing says the whole thing takes at least two hours once you count renting the hanbok and walking to the palace, and the photographer will walk you to and from the rental shop when there is no booking straight after.

Guests this October write about the photographer by name, Yong, about being posed when they did not know how, and about not feeling rushed on a busy day. One solo traveller recommends it to other women travelling alone.

Hanbok included or not

The choice between the two leading shoots comes down to the rental. DDOTRIP’s Hanbok Photoshoot at Gyeongbokgung Palace costs the same, US$113, and includes the hanbok rental, more than 200 original photos and a voucher that extends the rental from 1.5 to 3 hours; you meet at Heungnyemun Gate already dressed, and dressing takes 30 minutes to an hour. Aurea Studio has far more reviews and gives fewer, fully edited photos; DDOTRIP has 20 reviews and saves you the rental fee.

The Gyeongbokgung Palace Photo Service is the budget route: about 50 retouched photos shot on a phone, rated 5.0 from 15 reviews; the hanbok and the palace ticket are not included, though the ticket is free if you wear hanbok.

Renting the hanbok for the shoot

For Aurea Studio you rent the hanbok yourself, and the photographer sends shop recommendations after you book. The most booked rental by the palace is Daehan Hanbok, from US$8; book it for two hours or more so the shoot and the walk fit inside the rental. The hanbok rental page compares the shops.

"Such an amazing experience and definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Seoul! My brother and I had the best time doing this photoshoot at Gyeongbokgung Palace. Our photographer was absolutely fantastic! He guided us through every pose, made us feel incredibly comfortable, and was so encouraging throughout the entire session. Even though the palace was extremely crowded, he somehow always managed to find the perfect spots for our photos. His efficiency was honestly impressive! He knew exactly where to go, how to position us, and how to make the most of every location without ever making us feel rushed. The whole experience was fun, effortless, and genuinely memorable. You can really tell he knows what he’s doing and cares about making the experience special. I couldn’t recommend this enough! If you’re visiting Seoul, this is an absolute must-do! ❤️"

"The session with Yong was absolutely splendid, firstly he recommended a very good hanbok rental place which was really dedicated in finding the perfect hanbok for the photoshoot upcoming. After that, I met him inside the Gyeongbokung palace to start all the way around the area with the photos and poses that Yong recommends according to your needs and preferences. The result was completely outstanding and as perfect and professional as it can get, the best photoshoot session you can have not only in Seoul but in the whole South Korea. Absolutely recommended, thanks to him I have so many pictures to remember my first visit ever to Seoul."
